(Rochester, Minn) -- The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today that Alex Schultz, the Rochester Honkers 2014 Most Inspirational Player Award Winner, will return to the outfield in 2015.

Schultz, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound switch-hitting junior from the University of Nebraska Omaha, was initially brought on as a temporary player in 2014, but worked his way onto the team full-time after his temporary contract ran out.  Gone only five days from the team, Schultz finished the 2014 Honker season hitting .287 with nine doubles and 23 RBIs.  He was second overall in games played (60) and hits (64) and led the team in walks with 47.  Primarily and outfielder, Schultz showed his versatility by playing a solid first base to keep him in the lineup.

Schultz hit .302 with 43 runs scored and 23 RBIs as a sophomore at UNO.  He drew a Summit League leading 30 walks and ranked second in the conference in runs scored.  He earned Second-Team All-Summit honors on 2014, Summit League Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll (2012-2013, 2013-2014), Distinguished Scholars List (2013-2014) and League Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence (2013-2014).
