Where once FX's 'American Horror Story' surprised us all to reveal that its second season would enter an 'Asylum,' and the third fittingly followed its witchy women into a 'Coven,' the official title for 'American Horror Story' season 4 confirms the carnival setting we've heard. Prepare for 'American Horror Story: Freak Show' to scare us all over again this fall!

Series creator Ryan Murphy himself revealed the season 4 subtitle over Twitter, though no official casting announcements or setting details have emerged since word of a carnival theme broke or the earlier 1950s setting. It seems likely that further details will emerge from the March 28 PaleyFest panel, much as last year saw the 'Coven' title and theme unveiled.

Previously, Murphy specified that series star Jessica Lange had begun work on her German accent, which falls in line with earlier words that “Jessica Lange has always wanted to play a Marlene Dietrich figure, and now she gets to.” Murphy also claimed that the fourth season would shoot in New Orleans again, or perhaps in Santa Fe, while Lange claims the fourth run will be her last with the franchise.

'American Horror Story: Freak Show' seems pretty par for the course, but what do you think? Does the title and setting confirmation have you any more optimistic the FX drama can conjure up new scares in its fourth season?
