The deep freeze is forecast to continue for at least one more day. The entire state of Minnesota is under a Wind Chill Warning until noon on Tuesday. Wind chill readings statewide are forecast to be in the -30 to -50 below range, while the actual temperature could drop into the mid-20s below zero in southeastern Minnesota by Tuesday morning. The bitter cold toppled a weather-related record in Rochester on Monday. The unofficial high temperature was eight below zero, which set a new record for the coldest high temperature in the city on January 27th. The previous record was -5.  The Rochester District is among those that have canceled classes for a second straight day on Tuesday, while numerous others have decided to delay the start of classes for two-hours.  Click here for a complete list of closings and delays.

Lourdes high school in Rochester has called off classes on Tuesday and the cold weather is apparently the blame. Principal Joe O’Toole says a pipe in the new school’s sprinkler system burst Monday, and the decision was made to cancel school while crews make repairs and clean up the mess.
