BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- The Honkers have had a rough go of it this year losing seven straight and having a 5-17 record, but the game may not be the focus tonight in Battle Creek.

Battle Creek, partnering with Freedom Firearms, a team sponsor, is hosting a "2nd Amendment Education Night."

The event has drawn interesting reactions especially within the context of recent shootings throughout the country and specifically in Orlando.

According to MLive.com the event allows fans with an open carry license to bring their sidearm to the ballpark holstered. The Bombers will be giving out free trigger locks to all in attendance

In an article for the Battle Creek Enquirer, Dillon Davis reported that the Bombers hope to use this night as a means to educate all in attendance on gun safety and the laws in the state of Michigan and the country when it comes to the owning and use of firearms.

Honkers General manager Dan Litzinger was unable to be reached for comment on the promotion.
