BLUE EARTH, Minn. (AP) —A young boy survived a life-threatening incident in southern Minnesota earlier this week. 7-year-old Noah Laehn was playing with his cousin in the yard of his home near Blue Earth week and jumped on the lid of an underground septic tank. The lid popped off and Noah tumbled into the dark 10 feet below.

Fortunately, the tank had been drained the day before so it contained only about 2 feet of waste and muck. The boy's aunt came running and heard Noah's cries from below. When she looked into the tank, she saw him standing on the pump, holding onto a pipe. Faribault County sheriff's deputies were summoned, lowered a ladder into the tank and the boy climbed to safety.
