So far, all the attention has been on the roof of the Vikings new stadium... but let's talk about those gigantic doors!

As we creep closer to the finish line and the construction crews put the finishing touches on the brand new state-of-the-art stadium in downtown Minneapolis, only one thing remains to call this project officially complete: and that happens on July 22nd when U.S. Bank Stadium finally opens its massive doors to the public.

Rotating on hydraulic pistons, they're the five largest pivoting glass doors in the world.  Measuring at a whopping 55 feet wide, ranging from 75-95 high; they're consisting of 30,000 square feet of glass from Owatonna that's attached from door frames manufactured from Tennessee, and weigh in at an impressive 40,000 tons!  Wow.

In a twist that I didn't even think about; the NFL will treat those giant doors much like a retractable roof, as in the Vikings will have to make a decision 90-minutes before a game on whether they'll remain open or closed because high winds could possibly have an effect on game conditions inside the stadium.
