Conan O’Brien Developing FOX Medical Comedy ‘Bob’s New Heart Show’
Even if the rumors are to be believed, and Jimmy Fallon is to take over 'The Tonight Show' from Jay Leno in 2014, no power in the 'verse will ever keep Conan O'Brien away from TV. Not only does 'Conan' continue to thrive on TBS, and grace us with guest star appearances in the upcoming season of 'Arrested Development,' but it seems the freckled fair-haired late night host has begun crafting a new comedy on FOX, the cutely titled 'Bob's New Heart Show.' Find out the story of Conan O'Brien's latest venture inside!
With 'House' behind them, 'The Mob Doctor' on its last legs, and 'The Mindy Project' in an uncertain position, FOX may yet be looking to get back into the medical game. Per Deadline, we've learned that the network has turned to acclaimed late night host Conan O'Brien, and his production company Conaco to fill that void!
Paying homage to classic TV stable 'The Bob Newhart Show,' O'Brien's new venture 'Bob's New Heart Show' will follow the original story of a young hothead doctor who gains a new lease on life after receiving a heart transplant, after which re-evaluating his priorities leads him to take over the family practice in the working-class neighborhood he grew up in.
For the moment FOX has ordered a pilot script of the single-camera medical comedy, to be written and executive produced by 'Community' scribe Ben Wexler, along with O’Brien, David Kissinger and Jeff Ross.
