Divers searching for person in Wabasha
Divers will be busy today searching the Mississippi River in Wabasha for the body of a person who walked to the edge of the ice this morning and disappeared. Wabasha Police Chief Jim Warren says his department was contacted around 8 o’clock about a vehicle parked near the National Eagle Center
. It was later learned a witness saw someone on the ice earlier in the morning but wasn’t sure if it was a person or a large animal. Warren says a tentative ID has been made and it’s believed the missing person is a female. The ice ends about 40 yards from shore. Wabasha has been busy this week preparing for this weekend’s Grumpy Old Men festival.
