Carolina Panthers defensive end Jared Allen, who was a star for the Minnesota Vikings for six seasons, is looking doubtful for Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Arizona Cardinals. Allen, who started the season with the Chicago Bears before being traded to Carolina in late-September, broke a bone in his foot during Sunday's playoff game against Seattle. According to a report from NFL.com, “the injury was confirmed via an MRI he underwent on Monday.”

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said the injury makes Allen a doubt to play in the NFC Championship Game. He’s not expected to practice on Wednesday and is listed as “day-to-day” at this point.

Allen plans to see a specialist this week to see if there would be any risk of permanent damage if he were to try to play with the broken foot.

The 12-year veteran, who played collegiately at Idaho State University, has amassed 32 tackles this season, along with two sacks and an interception. The five-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro selection has 136 career sacks and has played for the Kansas City Chiefs, the Minnesota Vikings, the Chicago Bears and the Carolina Panthers.
