MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota goaltender Adam Wilcox is among five finalists for the inaugural Mike Richter Award.

Wilcox on Monday was named the first-ever Big Ten Player of the Year and Goaltender of the Year. The Richter Award honors the top goalie in NCAA hockey.

Wilcox leads the Big Ten and ranks third nationally in wins (23), save percentage (.934) and goals against average (1.91) after guiding the Gophers to the first-ever Big Ten regular-season title.

The sophomore from South St. Paul allowed just 30 goals in 18 conference games this season. He has a 48-12-11 career record for the Gophers with six career shutouts, three this season.

The Richter Award will be presented during the 2014 NCAA Men's Frozen Four in Philadelphia.
