Minneapolis, MN (Gophersports.com) -- University of Minnesota head football coach Tracy Claeys announced the addition of 24 student-athletes to the Golden Gopher football program.

Of the 24 student-athletes reported by Claeys, six were already enrolled in classes at Minnesota. Fourteen signed their National Letters of Intent Wednesday, while four others signed Acceptance of Admission forms.

Twenty-one of Minnesota's recruiting class will be true freshmen for the 2016 season, while three join the Gophers from the junior college ranks.

The Gophers signed players from 12 different states on Wednesday, which includes 11 players inside the boarders of Minnesota, two players each from Florida and Wisconsin and one each from Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan and Texas.

The 2015 Minnesota recruiting class features 12 offensive players, 10 defensive players, one athlete and one specialist.

Defensive linemen, offensive linemen, defensive back and wide receiver were the most heavily-targeted positions. The Gophers signed four defensive linemen, four offensive linemen, four defensive backs and three wide receivers.
