MINNEAPOLIS (GopherSports.com) – After tallying three goals in Gopher Hockey’s road split at nationally ranked Michigan this weekend, junior forward Hudson Fasching has been tabbed the Big Ten Third Star of the Week.

It is the fifth career Big Ten weekly honor for Fasching and the first for the junior forward this year.

The Burnsville, Minn., native scored two goals in Friday’s opener in Ann Arbor and added a third on Saturday as the Gophers go into the break in first place in the Big Ten Conference.

Fasching ranks second among Gophers skaters with 14 points this season while his eight goals are tied for the team lead. In 93 games played with the Maroon & Gold, Fasching has 70 career points (34 goals, 36 assists).

Michigan’s Kyle Connor was named Big Ten First Star of the Week while Penn State’s Tommy Olczyk was listed as the Big Ten Second Star of the Week.

The Gophers return to action at the 25th annual Mariucci Classic, Jan. 1-2, at Mariucci Arena. Joining Minnesota will be UConn, Ferris State and Harvard.
