(Minneapolis, MN - GopherSports.com) – After tallying his first career hat trick last weekend, Gopher Hockey’s Justin Kloos has been named the Big Ten Second Star of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.

The Lakeville, Minn., native led the top-ranked Gophers to a 4-3 overtime win on Saturday against No. 7 St. Cloud State at Mariucci Arena with a pair of second period goals as well as the overtime game winner.

Kloos, who led Minnesota with 16 goals last season as a freshman, is tied for the Big Ten goal scoring lead with five on the season while his hat trick is the first by a Gopher since Sam Warning scored three-straight goals to give Minnesota a 4-2 comeback win over Ohio State on Jan. 18, 2014.

Jake Hildebrand of Michigan State picked up Big Ten First Star of the Week honors while Matt Tomkins of Ohio State was named the Big Ten Third Star of the Week.

Minnesota returns to action this weekend with a Friday-Sunday series against No. 14/15 Notre Dame at Mariucci Arena.
