EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- The Honkers (7-24) fail to build momentum once again as they lose 13-3 to the Eau Claire Express (21-11).

Honkers starter Jackson Douglas was roughed up after a scoreless first by giving up nine runs seven earned over the next four innings.

Douglas gave up one run in the second but his worst inning came in the third when he gave up four runs. After walking Mickey McDonald to load the bases, Douglas gave up a triple to Daulton Varsho that cleared the bases and gave the Express a 4-0 lead. Alex McKenna then grounded out to short to drive in Varsho making the game 5-0.

In the fourth, Douglas gave up the two unearned runs of his outing. as Cody Bohanek reached on an error by Honkers shortstop Jacob Thomas that allowed two to score bringing the game to 8-0.

In the seventh, Douglas gave up a lead-off home run to Jared Mang, his third of the year to make the score 9-0 and end his day. Douglas was relieved by Bayley Chesterton who gave up three runs with the big blow coming on Alex McKenna's two-run double, that made the score 12-1.

Douglas gave up one more in the eighth when Jared Mang scored on Ripken Reyes' sac fly making the score 13-1.

Offensively the Honkers were shut down by Express starter Caleb Boushley who went seven inning giving up only one run and four hits while striking out seven Honkers.

The Honkers scored two in the ninth on Casey Worden's two-run double making the score 13-3.

WIth the loss the Honkers dropped to 7-24, 15 games back of the league leading St. Cloud Rox, as the Express improved to 21-11 good for 1.5 games back.

Jackson Douglas was given the loss to drop to 0-2, and Caleb Boushley was given the win to improve to 4-1 on the year.

The Honkers play back at home tomorrow night as they play the Duluth Huskies (15-16) at 7:05 at Mayo Field.
