KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Honkers season reached its lowest point, so far, this season as the Honkers lost their 10th straight, bringing their season record to 5-20, in a 6-0 loss to the Kalamazoo Growlers (16-12).

The Honkers were held to two hits, of their three, by Growlers starter Devin Pellien (W, 3-0) who went eight innings of shutout ball, striking out eight without walking a batter.

Honkers starter Clayton McGuinness allowed six runs, three earned in his six innings of work. Giving up three in the second, one in the fourth and two in the sixth.

Jordan Verdon drove in the first run of the game tripling in Camden Duzenack to make it 1-0. David Hensley then hit a double to drive in Verdon and TJ Marik making the score 3-0.

In the fourth, the Growlers added one more when Trey Ganns hit a solo home run to lead off the inning to make the game 4-0.

In the bottom of the sixth the Growlers added their final two runs via the long-ball when Duzenack hit a two-run shot to drive in Ganns bringing the score to 6-0.

The Honkers got one eat each out of Tyrone Buis, Jackson Thoreson, and Miles Lewis with only Thoreson reaching second base. Thoreson reached base twice as he doubled in the third and was hit by a pitch in the fifth.

The Honkers hope to end their losing strike back at home tomorrow at 7:05 as they face the Thunder Bay Border Cats who are the only team in the Northwoods League to have a worse record than the Honkers at 1-23, who are 1-9 in their last 10.
