MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Lynx guard Lindsay Whalen has been named Western Conference Player of the Week.

The award is Whalen's first of the season and sixth of her career. Last week Lynx teammate Maya Moore won the season's first Player of the Week award.

Whalen opened the week with a season-high 22 points, including a key jumper in the final minutes of a Memorial Day win against the Chicago Sky. She also had a team-leading four assists as Minnesota handed Chicago its first loss of the season.

Whalen added 19 points, pulled down five rebounds and handed out three assists as the Lynx beat San Antonio at Target Center on May 30. She capped the week with a double-double at San Antonio, posting 14 points and 10 assists in an 87-79 win.
