The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office accused him of driving an Eyota-area man to a friend’s residence where the victim was tied up and assaulted by Espenson and another man with a padlock that was inside a sock. The victim says the two men did meth 2-3 times and also threatened to stab him. He says they also punched and kicked him in the stomach. They later dumped him in Rochester and drove off. The victim called police and was taken to St Marys Hospital where he was treated for injuries that included two broken ribs.

At the time of the incident, Espenson was wanted on felony arrest warrants issued by multiple counties.
