Former network TV news anchorman Tom Brokaw emceed the Mayo Clinic’s Sesquicentennial celebration in Rochester Friday night.Brokaw, who is a member of the Mayo Board of Trustees, took center stage as several thousand invited guests gathered at the Mayo Civic Center to mark the 150th anniversary of the founding the world famous healthcare provider.

The celebration included a performance by Cirque du Soleil and was capped off by a fireworks show.

The event also included an appearance by Governor Mark Dayton, who earlier in the day participated in festivities connected to the annual Governor’s Fishing Opener in Brainerd, and then managed to travel back to the north lakes country to try his luck at catching a walleye with a midnight night fishing trip on Gull Lake.
