Sad news coming out of Minneapolis today, where one construction worker has lost his life and another has been injured while working on the new Minnesota Vikings stadium. The two were working on the roof on the north side of the building when one of them fell 50 feet into a snow gutter. Another worker was also injured in the incident that took place this morning (August 26) around 7:45 am.

The accident caused work at the stadium site to come to a halt. On any given day, as many as 1,200 construction workers are on the site. Officials are hopeful that work on the site will resume tomorrow.

The Vikings released a statement about the accident, saying, “Today is an extremely sad day for the Minnesota Vikings organization and the entire stadium team. Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the individual who passed away, the worker who remains hospitalized, and the more than 1,000 dedicated construction workers who are on the site every day and are also affected by this accident.”

The surviving man is listed in serious condition at Hennepin County Medical Center.
