MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Glen Perkins got to pitch the ninth inning for the American League in the All-Star game this week, representing the host Minnesota Twins in the same place he was born and raised.

Rare are the occurrences in sports that come together as smoothly as that. Perkins was taken aback by how loud the crowd became when he emerged from the bullpen and jogged to the mound to complete the most memorable save of his career.

After the game at Target Field on Tuesday night, Perkins described the experience as an "overwhelming moment."

The season's second half begins tonight as the Twins get to stay home for a long ten game home stand.

The Twins are six games under .500 and this set of ten will dictate whether the team becomes a "seller" or "buyer".

Kyle Gibson will pitch tonight and coverage on 1340 KROC AM begins with the pre-game show at 6:40.
