Redhawks Advance to Amer. Legion State Tourney (VIDEO)

The Rochester Redhawks advanced to the 2014 American Legion State Tournament by defeating Austin to win the District Tournament Championship Sunday afternoon at Winona State University.

The Redhawks (Mayo High School) advanced through the tournament without a loss and will open play in the State Tournament Thursday afternoon at Eagan.  Austin lost to the Redhawks 10-1 Saturday afternoon, but was able to advance to face Rochester for a second time with a 21-9 win over Winona Saturday night.

The District Championship game was well played. Neither team committed an error and both teams were nearly equal in their hit totals, but Rochester finished on top with the final score 5-2.

John Lundquist was the winning pitcher and also hit three hits for the Redhawks.
