Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A little over a week after a judge ruled he was competent to stand trial, a former Stewartville man avoided going to trial by entering into a plea agreement in a child sex abuse case. On Friday, 25-year-old Majed Ijong went before an Olmsted County Judge and admitted to a second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge through a deal that resulted in the dismissal of another second-degree charge and three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Ijong was accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a young girl while he was living with the victim’s mother, beginning in September of last year.
Investigators became aware of the alleged abuse in mid-October but Ijong left the state before he could be taken into custody. They later learned he had traveled to Las Vegas in the company of the girl’s mother and Ijong was eventually apprehended in California.

Ijong was also charged with felony assault for allegedly punching an Olmsted County Detention Officer in the face back in March. That case is still pending and will be the subject of a hearing on October 29th.

Ijong is currently scheduled to be sentenced in the sex abuse case on December 10th.
