U Plays For National Title Tonight
-- The Minnesota Gophers play for a national title tonight in the finals of the Frozen Four in Philadelphia against Union College. Minnesota advanced after edging North Dakota 2-1, Union beat Boston College 5-4. Face off tonight is at 6:30.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Boston College forward Johnny Gaudreau won the Hobey Baker Award on Friday night as the top Division I college hockey player, and signed with the Calgary Flames.
Gaudreau, from Carney's Point, N.J., won the award a day after Boston College lost to Union in the NCAA semifinals. He passed up with senior season to sign with Calgary.
The 5-foot-7, 150-pound forward led the nation with 36 goals and 44 assists.
St. Lawrence's Greg Carey and St. Cloud State's Nic Dowd were the other finalists.
