Wild Open NHL Season Tonight

The Minnesota Wild begins its quest for the Cup tonight, opening up the NHL season hosting the Colorado Avalanche at the Excel Energy Center. Wild head coach Mike Yeo has decided to start Darcy Kuemper in goal tonight.

Kuemper and Niklas Backstrom will likely share goaltending duties early in the season.

The Wild, who defeated the Avs in the first round of the playoffs last year, came through the pre-season in good shape and tonight's game will mark the return of former Gopher Thomas Vanek.

Game time tonight is 8 o'clock.
