The worker killed after a 50-foot fall at the US Bank Stadium construction site in Minneapolis was identified by family members as 35-year-old Jeramie Gruber of Northfield.

Gruber grew up in Faribault and leaves behind a wife.

About 7:45AM, Gruber fell about 50 feet into a snow gutter and was trapped. Crews used a rescue basket, ropes and cables to free him. He was one of two workers from Berwald Roofing of St. Paul on the roof, according to Mortenson Construction Senior Vice President John Wood.

The second worker was transported to a hospital with injuries.

Work on the stadium was suspended for the rest of the day. The Minnesota Vikings issued the following statement.

"Today is an extremely sad day for the Minnesota Vikings organization and the entire stadium team. Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the individual who passed away, the worker who remains hospitalized, and the more than 1,000 dedicated construction workers who are on the site every day are are also affected by this accident."

Family members say Gruber was an avid hunter and fisherman and will be missed very much. He graduated from Faribault High School in 1998.
