MENDOTA HEIGHTS, Minn. (AP) — A chain-reaction crash involving dozens of vehicles closed the westbound lanes of Minnesota 55 near the Mendota Bridge for nearly two hours.

The State Patrol says just before 1 p.m. Monday, two vehicles lost control and crashed, causing a semi-truck to jackknife. Other drivers then piled into the crash and each other.

A total of 61 vehicles were involved into the pileup. One motorist was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The patrol says the pileup happened while roads were slick from a morning snowfall.
