Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Is it an eight, a zero or a six?

That’s what fans at baseball games at Rochester’s Mayo Field ask themselves when checking the scoreboard for a pitch count or other information. That problem will soon be gone.

The Rochester Park Board has approved the purchase and installation of a new scoreboard. The current one is not just old but there are no more replacement light bulbs. This has led to display problems in recent years.

The board has decided it’s time to replace the old scoreboard with a new Daktronics model. Daktronics is one of the best-known scoreboard manufacturers in the country.

Parks and Recreation Dept Superintendent Paul Widman says work on removing and replacing the current scoreboard is expected to begin soon. He says the goal is to have the new scoreboard operational well before the beginning of the Rochester Honkers season.

The new scoreboard will cost around $40,000.
