About 1 million Fitbits recalled in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois Due to Burn Risk

The latest recall that came out is a bit scary for anyone that uses a Fitbit.  About one million Fitbit's were recalled due to reports of burn injuries, some that were severe including 2 reports of third-degree burns and 4 reports of second-degree burns.  Just seems ironic that a product that is supposed to help you get healthier is actually hurting people.

Below is information from the Consumer Product Safety Commission regarding the recall:

Total Number of Products Recalled:  About one million.

When and Where the Product Was Sold:  The product was sold between September 2017 and December 2021 for $200 to $330 and was purchased at Best Buy, Kohl's, Target, Amazon.com, Fitbit.com and other stores nationwide.

Description of product: "This recall only involves the Fitbit Ionic Smartwatch. It was sold with a polyurethane band and has a 1.4-inch color LCD screen. The watches were sold in slate blue/burnt orange, charcoal/smoke gray, blue gray/silver gray, and a special edition co-branded with Adidas in ink blue/silver gray. The smartwatch tracks activity, heart rate, and sleep.  Only the following models and colors are included in this recall. For the Ionic device, the model number (FB503) is on the back of the device near where the band attaches. Fitbit is printed on the front of the Ionic Smartwatch."

What to do if you have one of the products recalled:  Stop using the item immediately.  Contact Fitbit at help.fitbit.com/ionic or www.fitbit.com.  Fitbit will send out pre-paid packaging to return the recalled Fitbit.  Once they receive the recalled Fitbit, a refund will be issued of $299 and will also receive a discount code for 40% off select Fitbit devices.
