Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Another person has announced plans to run against Rochester State Senator Carla Nelson.

Doctor Aleta Borrud of Rochester has announced plans to seek the Democratic-Farmer-Labor-Party endorsement to run against the Republican incumbent next year.

Borrud says she “stepped away from her 18-year medical career caring for older hospitalized patients to be an advocate for the community.”

Her announcement comes just days after former Eyota mayor Tyrel Clark said he plans to seek the DFL endorsement to challenge Nelson, whose Senate seat includes Rochester and areas of Olmsted County mainly to the south and east of the city.

Nelson was elected to the seat in 2009.
