Minneapolis (KROC AM News) - An inmate at the state prison in Oak Park Heights has died after contracting COVID-19.

The 73-year-old died Sunday.

The Minnesota Dept. of Corrections says the man recently tested positive while receiving medical care for terminal cancer. It is not known where he contracted COVID-19.

The DOC says this is the fourth COVID-related death of an incarcerated person in its system since the pandemic began. Two other incarcerated people are currently receiving ventilator treatment at outside hospitals.

The name of the inmate who died has not been released.
