Another Mississippi River Crest is Coming for SE Minnesota
Undated (KROC AM News) - The Mississippi River is rising again.
It had been slowly falling after earlier flooding caused by the spring snowmelt. But recent rain has led to a slow rise in the river between the Twin Cities and Winona.
It appears the new rise will mostly affect Wabasha, which is also impacted by the Chippewa River.
The latest forecast calls for the river to rise to moderate flood stage in the Wabasha area Saturday and then crest Monday at 15 feet followed by a slow fall. It could remain at the moderate level for several days.
It will also rise to or near moderate stage in the Red Wing area Monday.
The city of Red Wing has released this info:
Public Works will be closing the following this weekend:
• Levee Road from Pottery Pond to the round-a-bout. This is the area by Ole Miss Marina and
Bay Point Park.
• East Fifth Street by the entrance to Barn Bluff/He Mni Can and Red Wing Conservation Club
(Isaac Walton) or the Waste Water Treatment Plant.
The river could remain at flood stage through the end of the month between St Paul and Winona.
