Another slow month for homebuilders

February was another slow month for Rochester homebuilders as the city Building Safety Department approved

just 14 permits for new single family houses.  Only 11 were issued in January, which was the lowest monthly total since 2012.  But thanks to two ongoing large residential projects, the overall new building valuation for February totaled $41 million.  A permit of just over $15 million was issued for The Waters on Mayowood Road project that is being built along 16th street southwest near Apache Mall.  And a $15 ½ million permit was approved for the expansion of The Homestead at Rochester site, located near the intersection of 18th avenue and 55th street northwest.
