(Gophersports.com) - Rachel Banham has been named the Big Ten Player of the Week after her performance against Memphis on Saturday. This marks the third time in her career the senior guard has collected the honor.

Banham’s 13 points in the third quarter helped the Gophers come back to beat the Tigers 70-60. Minnesota trailed by eight at halftime before outscoring Memphis 28-7 in the third. Banham scored 23 points overall, pulled down 10 rebounds and added three assists and two steals.

Banham is the only player in the country to have at least 20 points in all of her team’s games this season. She has posted two straight double-doubles, the seventh and eighth of her career.

Two Gophers have earned Big Ten Player of the Week recognition this season, as Mikayla Bailey got the nod after the season opener.

Another Minnesotan was honored this week as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Alex Wittinger is a graduate of Delano High School and was recognized for her performance on the court as a member of the Fighting Illini women's basketball team.
