Winona, MN (KROC-AM News) - Authorities in western Wisconsin are working to identify a body found yesterday in the Mississippi River near Winona.

The Buffalo County Sheriff's Office says the body of a white male, who appeared to be in his 60s, was found across the main channel of the river from Winona and south of the beach area on Latsch Island. A news release says the discovery was reported about 10:45 AM.

Authorities have not said what caused his death and are requesting the public's help in identifying the man. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Buffalo County Sheriff's Office at 608-685-4433.
