Boston, MA (Learfield Sports)  -- Clay Buchholz tossed eight shutout innings, allowing three hits and striking out eight, to carry the Red Sox to a 1-0 win over the Twins at Fenway Park. Buchholz improved to 3 and 6 as Boston won the opener of the four-game series. Rusney Castillo drove in the only run a single in the seventh. The Sox had lost six of their previous seven. Mike Pelfrey took the tough-luck loss, making it through seven innings on six hits. Minnesota was 7-and-1 in its last eight.

Games two and three are today and tonight. Phil Hughes starts game one today against Eduardo Rodriguez with pre-game coverage beginning at noon, first pitch at 12:35. Right-handers Trevor May and Rick Porcello will take the hill for Minnesota and Boston respectively, in the second game. 5:30 pre-game, first pitch 6:10.  Both games can be heard on 1340 KROC-AM.
