Eyota Man Sent To Prison For Child Sex Crime

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - An Eyota man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexually assaulting a young girl.

Sentenced Wednesday was 37-year-old Michael Allen Smith.

He pleaded guilty earlier this year to 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct and a child pornography charge. Smith was charged last summer after an investigation by the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office.

A spokesman said investigators were contacted by the mother of the victim who discovered evidence of the sexual abuse on Smith's phone.
