Dodge Center, MN (KROC-AM News) - Additional charges have been filed against a Dodge Center man accused of impersonating a federal agent.

A news release from the US Attorney's Office for Minnesota says a federal grand jury returned a five-count indictment against 52-year-old Reyel Simmons. In addition to the impersonating a federal officer charge, the indictment charges him with being a felon in possession of firearms, being a felon in possession of explosives, possession of unregistered firearms, and possession of an unauthorized badge.

According to court documents, the FBI began investigating Simmons in mid-August after the agency received a tip that he was impersonating an agent with the US Department of Homeland Security. An investigation found he used the name Rey Reeves on social media and regularly portrayed himself as a federal agent.

When he was arrested last month, the indictment says a search of his home resulted in the seizure of seven firearms, along with silencers, a suspected detonating cord, and a suspected blasting cap. The court documents indicate most of those items were discovered in a so-called "safe room" behind a hidden doorway in the basement of his home. Investigators also found thousands of rounds of ammunition, body armor with law enforcement emblems, a number of law enforcement style badges, and identifying documents in the home.
