Firefighters are service personnel who respond to calls involving emergencies such as building or forest fires; automobile, airplane or train crashes; or medical issues. They're often the first to arrive on-scene.

But who do you call if you get your hand stuck in your sofa? No need to fear, firefighters are here for those weird emergencies too.

Firefighters in Britain responded to an unusual call last Tuesday when they were told that "a man had his hand trapped down the back of a sofa."

A Facebook post from the Stapleford Fire Station read "An unusual incident for us last night. Where we were called to a report of a male with his hand trapped down the back of a sofa."

Though the reason for his hand being stuck in the sofa is unknown, firefighters were able to help the man extract his arm.

Maybe he was fishing for spare change or looking for a lost remote control. Or maybe he was doing something we really don't want to know about...

The man was not injured, but he did suffer a "slight reddening to his hand."

Good thing it was just his hand and not something else...

One of the firefighters said, "It really isn't just fires, I'm pleased we were able to help the man without hurting him further or damaging his sofa."

He also said that they checked in the next day, to make sure he was okay. The man seems to be fine, and the couch is doing well too.
