Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former Rochester man has been sentenced to just over 4 years in prison for a felony conviction stemming from a 2019 traffic crash that came close to causing the death of a young child.

40-year-old Joshua Jacobson was sentenced this morning in Olmsted County Court to 51 months in prison. He had been scheduled to be sentenced in early January, but he failed to report to jail as ordered by an Olmsted County Judge who had agreed to allow him several days of freedom to get his affairs in order.

Jacobson was finally apprehended on an arrest warrant issued in the case after he was spotted in Hennepin County and led authorities in the Twin Cities on a chase into Ramsey County last Thursday. The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office announced his return to the county jail on Tuesday.

Jacobson was accused of being under the influence of drugs when the vehicle he was driving was involved in a crash that left a 3-year-old girl with severe injuries. He pleaded guilty to a criminal vehicular operation charge last October.

He was also formally arraigned today on a felony charge for fleeing from police last week. His next court hearing for that case has yet to be scheduled.
