Full House, Great Game, Tough Loss
MINNEAPOLIS -- Things are looking up at Williams Arena these days. Attendance is up as is the quality of play. Too bad the Gophers couldn't pull it out. Wisconsin prevailed 78-76 in overtime.
Statistically, the game was about as even as you get from rebounds, to three-point baskets, to free throws. The lone difference was a big three-point basket by Wisconsin's Bronson Koenig that put the Badgers up 77-76 with 46 seconds left. Akeem Springs' three point attempt at the buzzer went off the rim.
Minnesota was lead by Amir Coffey with 19 points. Springs finished with 16. The Gophers record is now 15-5, 3-4 in the Big Ten.
Ethan Happ scored a career-high 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Badgers. It's the sixth straight victory for Wisconsin over Minnesota.
Minnesota visits Ohio State on Wednesday. The next home game is this Saturday against Maryland.
