After being linked to managerial roles with the Washington Nationals and the San Diego Padres, Ron Gardenhire is coming back to the Twin Cities.

With his new duties, he’ll travel to minor league affiliates and work as a roving instructor and evaluator, something GM Terry Ryan thinks he'll excel at because he's mentioned such in the past, the team said.

Gardy managed and lead the Twins to six division titles from 2002-14.  After finishing with at least 90 losses for four consecutive season, Ryan replaced him with Paul Molitor in 2014.
