For a second straight week, University of Minnesota running back Shannon Brooks has been honored as the Big Ten Conference Football Freshman of the Week.

The first year player from Atlanta had 174 yards rushing and scored 3 touchdowns Saturday as the Gophers defeated Illinois 32-23. Is 10.2 yards per carry on Saturday boosted his season average to 6.2 yards per carry in Big Ten games, which is the 2nd highest in the conference.

For the season, Brooks has wracked up 636 yards rushing and has scored 7 touchdowns.

Brooks won the conference Freshman of the Week honor a week ago for scoring a rushing touchdown and throwing a touchdown pass against Iowa. He also won the award on October 12th after he rushed for 176 yards and a touchdown against Purdue.
