MINNEAPOLIS (GopherSports.com) – Gopher Hockey sophomore Leon Bristedt led the Big Ten and tied for third in the nation with five points on the weekend including a pair of multi-point games against nationally ranked St. Cloud State.

The Stockholm, Sweden native factored into five of Minnesota’s six goals on the weekend with a goal and an assist on Friday followed by his first career three-point game on Sunday with a goal and two assists.

Bristedt has tallied at least a point in seven of the last eight games for the Maroon & Gold and currently leads the Gophers with 12 points (seven goals, five assists) in 11 games this season. His seven goals this season have already surpassed his freshman total of five in 35 games last season. In 46 games as a Gophe, Bristedt has tallied 31 points (12 goals, 19 assists).

This week’s honor marks the second career Big Ten weekly accolade and second of the season for Bristedt (Big Ten Third Star of the Week on Nov. 10).

Penn State’s Eamon McAdam was named the Big Ten First Star of the Week while Michigan’s Steve Racine was honored as the Big Ten Second Star of the Week.

The Gophers kick off the Big Ten schedule this weekend with a two-game series against Ohio State at Mariucci Arena.
