Eden Prairie native becomes the fourth Minnesotan to join the team

(Rochester, Minn.)-- The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the signing of Eden Prairie, Minn. Native and Minnesota Golden Gopher, Jordan Smith for the 2014 season. 

Smith is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound redshirt freshman outfielder.  Currently he is hitting .242 with six RBIs, 15 walks and is two for three in stolen bases.  Smith started the season in left field but has now been the Gophers center fielder.  In 2013, Smith was red-shirted for the season.

Smith graduated from Eden Prairie High School in 2012.  As a senior, the team captain hit .421 with 3 home runs and 11 RBIs. And was named  a Lions All-Star selection.  He played summer ball for the Eden Prairie Legion team and was part of the 2011 Eden Prairie American Legion National championship team.  He hit .369 that summer with 18 RBIs and was also the squad’s fourth starter in the pitching rotation.

The Rochester Honkers Northwoods League season begins May 27th.
