The snow this morning might have something to do with this one.

At least, as far as I'm concerned, the weather plays a huge role when deciding which states are the worst to live in.

For others, there are schools, property values, and crime factors that all play a large part.

While I'm concerned about all those, the minute I start seeing the streets fill with white powder that's going to make my drive that much more treacherous I start asking myself "Why do I live in Illinois again?"

I'm still waiting for the answer.

I'm not sure if this list from Ranker highlights the awful weather in Illinois, because it's only one spot in front of Florida, but it does explain how the rest of the world feels about the Land of Lincoln.

To put it bluntly, the world thinks Illinois is not a great place to live.

Ranker says only "noticeable punching bags" like New Jersey, Mississippi, and Alabama rank worse than Illinois.

Ranked 6th overall, Illinois is also behind California and New York. The two biggest cities in America are in both of those states, and Illinois has Chicago so maybe that has something to do with the poor ranking.

You'd think Illinois would be ranked more favorably because of the Windy City but it might be the exact opposite.

Our neighbor to the north, Wisconsin, based on this list from Ranker, is considered one of the best places to live in America, sandwiched between Vermont and Hawaii.

Is Illinois really that bad? I mean the snow and weather altogether sucks but it can't really be the 6th worst state in America, can it?
