Illinois Is America’s Most Obese State Because Of This Government Study
Do you remember the "food pyramid" when you were a kid? This government funded "heathy eating" diagram has a new version, that says the breakfast cereal "Lucky Charms" is better for you than a steak. Say, what?? GoodRanchers
I can remember having to draw and memorize this "food pyramid" thing. It was so we learned what was good for us, what to eat and put in our bodies. You had your standard "eat your veggies" and make sure you get two servings of milk or cheese per day. Those days are apparently long gone.
Facts...
Dariush Mozaffarian is the Dean of the Tufts School of Nutrition. He presented this new and improved food pyramid at the end of 2022 at the White House. Three years of work and research, and 3 million dollars later, we have the "food pyramid."
So there are three "color levels" in this pyramid...Green, yellow, red. Green is the BEST food you can eat. Here are some Green Level foods:
- Kale
- Watermelon
- Nonfat Frozen Yogurt
- Orange Juice with Calcium
- Frosted Mini Wheats
Frosted Mini Wheats?? This dude must love cereal or something?
OK here are some Yellow foods:
- Skinless Chicken Breasts
- Sweet Potato Fries
- Whole Wheat Bread
- Lucky Charms
Holy....Lucky Charms? How is this even a thing?
So here's Red foods:
- Cheddar Cheese
- Ground Beef
- Whole Eggs in Butter
Here's the EVEN WEIRDER PART
All of these foods have a number assigned to them...
- Kale 100
- Chicken Breasts 61
- Lucky Charms 60
- Beef Steak 30
Yes, that is Chicken Breasts 61, Lucky Charms 60 and Beef Steak 30.
So Lucky Charms Cereal with hunks of sugar marshmallows in it...ranks HIGHER than beef steak!
We wonder why America is so overweight, thanks Dariush Mozaffarian. LOL! :)
