Superior Middlee School Principal’s Message To Parents As Kids Return To School
Students returned to class at the Superior Middle School today for the first time since Sunday's incident. A police officer was shot during a traffic stop near the Superior Middle School. The suspect shot an officer twice, and the officers returned fire, injuring the suspect. The suspect then fled in his van down the street and crashed into the Superior Middle School, causing significant damage.
The suspect barricaded himself in the school for hours before eventually surrendering without further incident. Photos of the shooter from security cameras were shared. It's a chilling sight.
Principal's Message To Parents
Aaron Lieberz sent an email to parents and guardians of students at the Superior Middle School on Wednesday afternoon. He expressed gratitude for the Superior Police Department and for the officer who is recovering from their injuries, along with other law enforcement agencies that arrived. He was thankful to teachers, staff, and others who had worked hard to get the school repaired and ready for Thursday.

The principal had 2 main priorities before having students return to class. The first was to have a secure entrance again, and the second was to remove any evidence of damage.
Building Update
They've built temporary walls in the place of the damaged doorways, they removed damaged windows and glass, and replaced some light fixtures.
The principal made an announcement this morning to students, giving them an update, stressing that this was an isolated incident and no students or staff were present or ever in any danger.
Counselors will be on hand for any students who may need extra support. Extra police officers were also at the School's entrances, welcoming kids back.
