Wisconsin’s High Drinking Rates Impact State Health Score
This might not be the news you wanted to hear but as always, take it with a grain of salt. Wisconsin might just be one of the unhealthiest states in the country, at least according to a recent study.
I mean, I am not sure if I consider it unhealthy but it is called The Cheesehead State, after all. Don't be mad at me - I am just the the messenger! Of course, not all is lost.

For example, recently, Wisconsin was named one of the top three states when it came to dental health, meaning it is better in this aspect than the rest of the country. That is pretty impressive!
We can all be a little healthier, too. So why is Wisconsin considered one of the unhealthiest states right now? Let's dive in.
New Study Names Wisconsin One Of The Unhealthiest States - Here's Why
This list came out just this month and was conducted by a GLP-1 review site. Analysts looked at a bunch of different and relevant factors like air quality, life expectancy, healthcare spending and diet and exercise habits.

They also looked at alcohol consumption. The midwest does have a reputation if you will, so it makes a bit more sense why Wisconsin placed so low. Taking all these factors into account, each one was given a score to see where residents have the best shot at living a long, healthy life. Of course, there are so many factors to consider.
Unfortunately, it looks like drinking played a huge role here. There isn't much that separates the state from those named the healthiest and those named the unhealthiest except for the rate of excessive drinking, which is way higher than its counterparts.

Alcohol was also weighted more heavily here, so this makes sense. The only state with a higher drinking score is North Dakota. We can all try to be a little healthier in this new year, right?
By the way, Wisconsin came in at number 42, meaning there are only a handful of states considered unhealthier. We have some work to do!
