One of Minnesota’s go-to places for fabric, JoAnn Fabrics, has closed for good. The company filed for bankruptcy, shut down all its stores, and liquidated its inventory.

Craft retailer Michael’s acquired JoAnn’s intellectual property and private-label brands. While they plan to incorporate some of that into their stores, many Minnesotans are wondering: where can you find fabric now?

SR Harris Fabric, in business for nearly 60 years, is home to the largest fabric selection in Minnesota. With two locations, one in Brooklyn Park and the other in Burnsville, this warehouse-style outlet boasts over 30,000 square feet of fabric for fashion, quilting, upholstery, cosplay, and more.

Founded by Sid Harris in 1966, the store is now run by his son. SR Harris has earned a reputation not only for variety, but also for affordability. One customer raved, “So many types of fabric! You will find what you are looking for... trust me. So many choices!!! Prices listed on the bolt will be 1/2 that price.”

A Destination Worth the Trip

SR Harris isn't just popular among locals. One enthusiastic visitor wrote, “With motivation from the YouTube community, I took a flight on Sun Country Airlines just to visit this warehouse, and SR Harris did not disappoint!” If you're in need of a new fabric source, a trip to the Twin Cities might be your next best move.

Tour Minnesota's Fanciest Mini Golf Course - The Centennial Lakes Putting Course

While they won't call it a mini golf course, it kind of is. This 18-hole course boasts all real grass playing surfaces, natural obstacles like sand traps, boulders, and water, just like a real golf course.

The whole course looks and feels like a shrunken golf course, and it plays like one, too! The holes are long! The shortest hole is 57 feet, the longest is 125 feet, and the whole 18-hole course plays 1,662 feet.

This is no ordinary mini golf course!

Take a tour.
