Just recently a new restaurant opened in the Twin Ports, and to me it's very much welcomed.

A while back, a staple to the area called Grizzly's closed its doors in Superior, Wi.  This was a bummer announcement as they had good food at a decent price, with a decent atmosphere.  The upside was, they said they were going to put a new restaurant in its location, and that is now a reality.

The regional chain that replaced Grizzly's is Boulder Taphouse.  I was already familiar with them having visited their Mankato, Grand Rapids, Rochester, and St. Cloud, MN locations.

Since the Superior, WI location opened just a bit over a week ago, I've already visited it twice and wanted to share my experiences.

First, I'll say it's consistent with the other locations I've visited as far as portions, food quality, price, and attentiveness of staff.  You can get a quality meal that won't break the bank and also an excellent selection of beers on tap if that's what you're looking for.  They also have some pretty decent specialty cocktails that are worth a try, especially if you like Margaritas.  The Blood Orange or Raspberry Inferno versions are worth the price of admission.

Second, if you like chicken wings, you need to try them at Boulder Taphouse.  There are plenty of flavors to satisfy your tastebuds from sweet, to spicy, to unique.  Crisp on the outside and perfectly cooked inside, these are a must have when stopping there, even if it's a small order to go with your burger.

Third, the burgers are great!  Decent sized and packed full of flavor, I suggest you try the Jalapeno Popper Burger.

Fourth, get a shake for dessert if you have room or stop in for just dessert sometime.  I tried the Raspberry Cheesecake Premium Shake and as you can see pictured, it comes with a piece of cheesecake.

Fifth, they do play some sports on TV but also keep more of an old skool and variety of music videos playing at just the right volume to enjoy.  As a radio person, I appreciate that as it's almost like being at a Hard Rock Cafe with the tunes.

Perfect for date nights, just taking the family out to dinner, or even solo at the bar on the comfiest barstools I've ever sat at, Boulder Taphouse is worth a stop.
